NEW CARRIER-NEUTRAL PEERING POINT IN MELBOURNE

The WA Internet Association (WAIA) is proud to announce the successful deployment of a carrier-neutral peering trial in Melbourne. This peering point builds on the highly successful WA Internet Exchange (WAIX) that many of the WAIA members peer through.

The trial already has 9 active peers Anittel, Micron21, Hostcentral, M2, Internode, Primus, Cinenet, GPK Computers and iiNet.

President of the Association, Richard Bone said “The Melbourne peering point is part of our on-going commitment to provide services to members. Although based in WA, many of our members are national and we have had many requests for a carrier-neutral peering service like WAIX but on the East Coast.” “For us, this is about members. The Association is run by members for members and this is the sort of service members want.”

Simon Hackett, Managing Director of Internode said “Carrier-Neutral peering is a vital part of ensuring the next generation of broadband services are affordable.  As a supporter of WAIA, Internode is proud to be a part of this trial.”
