The National Broadband Network represents a once in a generation opportunity for the Australian communications industry to contribute to the development of the new, national communications network.
With its NBN Project, Communications Alliance is taking the leadership role in coordinating the industry's contribution to the NBN's operational and technical framework. There are 140 team members representing 53 organisations currently working on the Project's seven work areas: NBN Reference Model; Wholesale Services; Early Stage Deployments; End-User Premises; Technical; Operational; and End-User Migration. The Project has released a range of documents reflecting outcomes of the work to date which can be viewed at http://commsalliance.com.au/Activities/national-broadband-network
The NBN Industry Connection forums provide the opportunity for all stakeholders to be informed of progress on the Project, to provide feedback and to assist in identifying issues and priorities.
3 successful series of forums were held throughout 2009 in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. This fourth series, extending to stakeholders in Perth, will provide an update on the Communications Alliance NBN Project to date, with a focus on the End User Premises and the draft Handbook for NBN End Premises which was released in December 2009 http://commsalliance.com.au/Documents/public-comment
The forum will also include a presentation from NBN Co following the release of their consultation paper in December 2009 on wholesale fibre bitstream products. http://www.nbnco.com.au/events.aspx
